Tragic Overture - Brahms
Concerto No. 2 for Piano - Brahms
Symphony No. 1(Spring) – Schumann
German Masters—and devoted friends & colleagues. This could be a story of romance and even potentially a love triangle! Schumann (b. 1810) was 23 years older than Brahms and they met in 1853 (the Schumann’s were married in 1840) Brahms had an artistic kinship with Schumann, and a romantic passion for his wife, Clara (which mellowed into an adoration) who encouraged him in his writing (and provided subject matter for his musical passion). To place these two composers in the same concert, particularly with these three brilliant pieces, would be sufficient to give you goose bumps, but we’ve added another exciting element in our favorite Russian pianist, Alexander Ardakov. His performance of the 2nd Piano Concerto will leave you breathless. Don’t miss this one . . .either!

Featurimg Vocalist Nadine Shanti
In a career that spans over fifty years, Burt Bacharach has shown us that changing time signatures, lush harmonies, strings, horns and timpani have a well-deserved and much-appreciated place in American popular music. In the 60’s and 70’s with lyricist, Hal David, and brand-spanking-new vocalist, Dionne Warwick, he had us asking “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?”, confessing “I Say a Little Prayer for You” and questioning an inscrutable young man named “Alfie”. Join us along with our Guest Artist Nadine Shanti, and enjoy the music and lifetime of this composer who unarguably forged the bridge between Tin Pan Alley, the Brill Building, Broadway and Rock and Roll.
