The Everett Symphony, the premier regional orchestra north of Seattle, has been providing quality musical experiences and education for over 65 years. For more than half a century, under eight talented conductors, the Everett Symphony has kept the community's musical soul alive.

Raymond Howell founded the Everett Symphony in January of 1935. In spite of its early success, the orchestra was disbanded from 1942 to 1947, because of
World War II.

The orchestra was reorganized in 1947 and was affiliated with Everett Junior College. A succession of five different Music Directors each continued to advance the Symphony's community and artistic presence. Dr. Stafford Miller became the orchestra's Music Director in 1977. Much of the current organization was formed during Miller's seven years with the orchestra. In 1983, the orchestra filed State Corporation papers, secured 501 (c) 3 status, and became an independent non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors.

Dr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs has been Music Director and Conductor since the summer of 1984. Under Cobbs, the orchestra has reaped the benefits of a strong organization, growing community support, and a solid corps of musicians. Cobbs' outstanding artistic ability and charismatic personality has brought the orchestra to new heights of performance ability.
